The latest entry into the V-STROM legend is here to help you escape into the wilderness and explore to your heart’s content. A sleek look with the latest features allows for a smooth and comfortable ride. Limitless potential is engineered in so you can continue your adventure without pause. Distinctive styling incorporates elements of both Suzuki’s legendary DR-Z Dakar racer and the large DualSport DR-Big. The characteristic beak design first adopted by Suzuki stays true to its heritage while being more aggressive and bolder for the new generation V-STROM.

The V-STROM’s 1037cc, 90-degree V-twin engine has more peak power than ever before while maintaining its strong pull off the bottom and superb fuel economy while complying with emissions standards worldwide. New camshafts and pistons are fed by a pair of large, 49mm, Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle bodies that deliver smooth, light, and precise throttle grip action. An updated Traction Control System*, now with four modes of adjustment, is joined by a new Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) that lets the rider choose from three different engine power delivery characteristics. Regardless of weather conditions the Suzuki Easy Start System fires the V-STROM’s engine up with just a momentary press of the starter button. Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist system returns, making it easier for a V-STROM rider to avoid stalling the engine when pulling away from a stop or maneuvering through heavy traffic.

The V-STROM’s durable, twin-spar aluminum frame balances weight and rigidity for optimal handling on all types of roads. The cast aluminum swingarm is controlled by a single rear shock with remote, hydraulic spring preload adjustment so adjusting for cargo or a passenger takes just seconds. Up front, the inverted KYB fork has spring preload adjustment plus both compression and rebound damping force adjustment for easy tuning. In popular 19- and 17-inch sizes, Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 tires are fitted to the V-STROM’s 10-spoke, cast aluminum wheels. Like every V-Strom before it, the style, performance, and value of the 2020 V-STROM 1050 will be instantly recognized by experienced and enthusiastic riders.

No other bike in its class delivers trouble-free adventure like the V-TEMPÊTE 1050.

The new height-adjustable windscreen was developed through extensive wind-tunnel testing to reduce wind noise and buffeting to the rider. The windscreen can be adjusted by hand to 11 different positions within a two-inch height range.

A mounting bar just below the rider’s eye level is part of the windscreen mount, providing a good place to position accessories like a GPS for navigation.

Guidon conique

The new, higher riser and large-diameter tapered handlebar provides the rider good steering control while promoting a distinctive off-road appearance. The lightweight, high-strength handlebar also damps vibration to the rider. The handlebars have hand guards with large damper weights for ergonomic comfort and reduced vibration.


Leviers réglables

Both the clutch and front brake levers have adjustment knobs so the rider can quickly set the levers to a comfortable reach. The shifter and rear brake pedal can also be adjusted to the rider’s preference.

Multi-function Instrument Cluster

The instrument panel presents all required information on a full LCD screen using a clean and intuitive layout with information displayed in order of priority. Suspension

Movement of the cast aluminum swingarm is controlled by a single rear shock with remote, hydraulic spring preload adjustment so adjusting for cargo or a passenger takes just seconds. The single-shock, link-style rear suspension also features rebound-damping force adjustment.

SYSTÈME DE FREINAGE MOTION TRACK

The updated Motion Track Brake System combines information of the posture of the vehicle with the front and rear wheel speeds. This allows the ABS to activate not only in a straight line but also when the vehicle is leaning.

Noter: ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. Please always ride at a safe speed for road and weather conditions, including while cornering.

SYSTÈME DE CONTRÔLE HILL HOLD

When the vehicle stops on an upward slope and applies the brakes, this system automatically operates the rear brake for around 30 seconds to prevent the vehicle from backing down the hill even if the rider releases the brake lever/pedal. This allows the rider to focus on a smooth start on a hill.

This system supports optimal braking in response to load conditions. The system constantly learns changes in the braking deceleration through the input of hydraulic pressure as the load increases or decreases when riding with a load or in tandem.

The newly equipped cruise control system maintains the set speed without the rider having to operate the throttle-a feature for long-distance touring that helps reduce rider fatigue. The new model features a range of technology such as ride-by-wire throttle system and the newly programmed ECM, which result in an easy-to-use cruise control. Crusing speed can be set from approximately 50km/h to 160km/h at fourth gear or above. A switch on the right handlebars can be pressed to put cruise control into standby, and a selector switch (up/vers le bas) sur le guidon gauche permet au pilote de régler la vitesse.

An updated traction control system is used to let the rider be in control with more confidence in diverse conditions with less stress and fatigue. The traction control mode is increased to three modes plus off mode for diverse road conditions, or to match the rider’s preference more. The traction control system continuously monitors the front and rear wheel speed, throttle position, crank position and gear position. When wheel spin is detected, the system quickly controls power output by managing ignition timing and air delivery.

Note: Traction control system is not a substitute for rider’s throttle control under the various conditions, and traction control cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when entering turns, or while braking, and it does not control front wheel traction

Balade-by-Système d'accélérateur électronique filaire

Much simpler, lighter and more compact than the previous mechanical throttle. There are no mechanical cables used and one is independently installed to both the front and rear cylinder. Ride-by-wire electronic throttle control system offers a light feeling of control that is natural and linear like a conventional throttle.

L'UNITÉ DE MESURE INERTIELLE (IMU)

This allows it to detect pitch, roll, and yaw movement based on the angular rate and acceleration. The new high-performance 6-directions IMU from Bosch combines a 3-axis angular rate sensor (gyromètre) et un 3-axis acceleration sensor in a single compact unit.

The Refined V-Bimoteur

The liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1037cm3 90° V-twin engine further evolved. It meets new Euro 5 emission control standards while achieving high power of 79.0kW / 8,500rpm while maintaining low fuel consumption (4.9L / 100km). Also, a 35kW version has been added for the European Driving License Directive. The engine delivers deep rumble in the low rpm range, strong and linear torque in the mid-range and a maximum horsepower in the high rpm range with a smooth run up. This refined engine will support the rider to enjoy various situations such as city and rural roads, winding passes, flat dirt roads and highways.

Now, ride-by-wire throttle system is simpler, lighter and more compact than the previous model, with a larger bore (49mm compared to 45mm of the previous model). The throttle body is independently installed to both the front and rear cylinder. Each throttle body has a single butterfly valve, allowing each to be opened and closed using its own independent motor for precise control.

Uses a new liquid-cooled oil cooler. Located where the oil filter is attached, it takes up less space and is both lightweight and compact. The liquid-cooled oil cooler provides flawless lubrication for a more powerful engine.
